An exceptional opportunity exists for a Java Developer who would like to make their way into the Financial Services Industry and learn about Equities and Derivatives!

My client is seeking a talented Java Developer to work on a variety of projects, one of which being a large scale implementation of a middle and Back Office Trading Application.

Working closely with the business you will be responsible for work within various streams within the project.  You will work closely with management, traders, business development staff and IT developers to design, build and support the interfaces required.

  To succeed in this role candidates  will need to have:

• At least 3 years post graduate experience developing Applications in Java
• Excellent tertiary results
• Experience in all phases of systems development, especially the design and delivery of large scale applications
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work well under pressure in providing timely and accurate solutions to systems problems
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
• Ability to work well either independently or in a team of business and technical staff
• Effective at collaborating and communicating ideas, concepts and approaches formally and informally

To be considered for this role, you will have the following technical skills:

• Broad experience in Java technologies
• Strong knowledge in Core Java, JMS, RMI, SWING, XML and JAXB
• Experience in Object Oriented software development
• Strong relational database experience (preferably Sybase or Oracle)
• Some experience with Unix operating systems (Scripting skills preferred)
•  Experience of open source technologies and their application

Any trading/equities/derivatives related development experience will be highly regarded
